Russian figure skater Kamila Valiev was not suspended from competition in singles at the Beijing Winter Olympics, although there has not yet been an official statement from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), TASS reports, citing Olga Yermolina, press attache of the Russian Figure Skating Federation.

Valieva went to training today – the short program will be shown on February 15, and the free program on February 17.

On the eve of the Inside The Games portal said that the delay in the awards ceremony for the winners of the Olympic team figure skating tournament, which was won by the Russian team, arose due to a problem with the December doping test of 15-year-old Valieva. However, later The Guardian pointed out that the substance found in the doping sample cannot directly affect the improvement of results.

Commenting on the situation, IOC spokesman Mark Adams made it clear that publications in the media, according to which Valieva’s dubious doping test was the reason for the delay in the awards ceremony for the figure skaters at the Olympics in Beijing, are speculations.

We add that yesterday, in the wake of reports, Sport-Express issued information according to which the Russian national figure skating team would allegedly be deprived of gold medals in the team figure skating tournament, and Valieva herself would be removed from individual competitions.

However, later the publication removed this post and issued a refutation of the above data, RBC emphasizes.

For their part, the Russian Ministry of Sports said that they considered it premature to comment on the data that appeared in the media about Valieva and the fate of gold medals in team figure skating competitions.
