In Ukraine, “objectionable media are being closed and political opponents are being persecuted,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference following a meeting with French leader Emmanuel Macron.
He stressed that during the talks he drew Macron’s attention to “massive systematic violations of human rights in Ukraine.”
In addition, according to him, the Ukrainian authorities ignore “all the possibilities of resolving the situation in Donbass” and “peaceful restoration of the country’s territorial integrity through direct dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk.” “In my opinion, it is obvious to everyone that the current authorities in Kiev have set a course for the dismantling of the Minsk agreements. There is no progress on such fundamental issues as constitutional reform, amnesty, local elections, legal aspects of the special status of Donbass,” the Russian president added.
According to him, Ukraine “twice tried to resolve the issue of Donbass by military means.” “The question arises whether Kiev will execute Minsk-2 or make another military attempt,” Putin said, stressing that “there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements on Ukraine.”
Earlier, Putin offered political asylum in Russia to ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, accused of treason.
Recall, the day before, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Ukraine has been fulfilling the Minsk agreements since 2014, while Russia has not.
