The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) of the Russian Federation has adjusted its inflation forecast for the current year to a significant increase – from 4% immediately to 5.9%, the Vedomosti newspaper reports, citing a federal official.
According to him, the new estimates have already been sent to the government for consideration.
As the publication explains, the indicator was changed as part of the implementation of the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who back in September last year asked the Cabinet of Ministers to clarify the socio-economic development forecast by February 4, 2022 (includes inflation).
At the same time, the Ministry of Economic Development indicated that the dynamics of inflation this year will depend on such factors as the general level of global inflation, the speed of recovery of global supply chains, the situation with the harvest in key producing countries, and the monetary policy of leading central banks.
Recall also that, according to Rosstat, consumer prices in the country for the period from January 22 to January 28 rose by 0.19%, and in annual comparison, according to the Ministry of Economic Development, inflation reached 8.82% against 8.64% a week earlier .
Russia ended last year with an inflation rate of 8.39%, which was more than double the target of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
