Beer and cognac can be considered the most harmful alcoholic beverages for the human body. Rustem Osmanov, a general practitioner, a cardiologist at SM-Clinic, stated this in an interview with the PRIME agency.
He recalled that the consumption of alcoholic beverages in itself is harmful to the body, especially for the cardiovascular system, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes. In addition, there is a risk of cancer, intoxication of the body, toxic effects on the brain, and the risk of mental disorders. Alcohol intake can lead to dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, peptic ulcer, cirrhosis of the liver), and finally, to allergic reactions.
At the same time, the therapist noted, drinks differ in their effect. “As for the most harmful alcoholic beverages in terms of their effect on the body, cognac, for example, is considered one of the most high-calorie ones. With regular use, cognac can cause a violation of carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Also, when the dosage exceeds 80 ml or more, cognac has a vasoconstrictive effect, ”Osmanov warned.
In turn, beer with frequent use puts a strain on the kidneys and adversely affects the mucous membrane of the stomach and pancreas. With prolonged use, it leads to diseases of the endocrine system, reproductive dysfunction, hormonal disorders, both in men and women. The doctor does not recommend drinking beer in hot weather, because of the negative impact of this drink on liver function.
According to the therapist, alcoholic cocktails contain a large amount of sugar, and with frequent use they are also harmful to the body, leading to metabolic disorders (diabetes, obesity, etc.).
The specialist also pointed out that energy drinks contain caffeine, their regular use is fraught with memory problems, neurological disorders (dizziness, headaches, loss of consciousness). Heart problems can also occur, in particular heart rhythm disturbances.
Sparkling wines and champagne also contain large amounts of sugar, which lead to impaired liver and pancreas function.
According to Osmanov, wines are considered the most harmless alcoholic beverages. “In moderation, wine thins the blood, dilates blood vessels, in the Mediterranean diet it is recommended for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases,” the therapist emphasized.
“However, it is worth considering the fact that due to the low alcohol content, a person is not able to control the amount of alcohol they drink, and thus the load on the liver increases,” the doctor explained.
He added that drinking a large amount of vodka leads to the above diseases, intoxication of the body, poisoning, dysfunction of the heart, liver, kidneys, etc.
