The Bell: The Government of the Russian Federation was offered not to ban cryptocurrency in Russia, but to receive taxes from it

The Russian budget, even with a simplified taxation system, could receive about 1 trillion rubles from the cryptocurrency market.

It was this amount that the government estimated the amount of taxes that can be received if the authorities do not prohibit, but begin to regulate the circulation of cryptocurrencies and mining, reports The Bell, which has read the corresponding analytical note drawn up for the Cabinet.

However, not everyone in the government apparatus agreed with this assessment. The publication refers to a commentary on the note, which was prepared by the analytical center under the government, RBC reports.

Government experts have calculated that legal entities – crypto exchanges and intermediaries – could bring to the budget annually from 90 billion to 180 billion rubles. At the same time, income from taxes on investors in crypto-currencies could bring up to 606 billion rubles to the budget. But all this is provided that the market will grow at the same pace as in previous years.

Recall that on January 20 of this year, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in its report for public consultations proposed to introduce a complete ban on the mining, issue, circulation and exchange of cryptocurrencies, on the organization of these operations in Russia, and a ban on banks to invest in cryptocurrencies.

Meanwhile, later, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation – instead of banning cryptocurrency transactions – came up with its own rules for regulating the crypto market.

For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to hold a discussion with the Central Bank on the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the near future, come to a consensus and report to him on the results.

And later, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko signed a roadmap (for the period until the end of 2022) on the regulation of cryptocurrency transactions in the country.
