The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) is a suitable platform to address the issue around Ukraine and discuss Russia’s security concerns. This was stated by Swiss President Ignazio Cassis, who also holds the position of Foreign Minister of the country.

According to him, Switzerland is committed to the de-escalation of the situation around Ukraine at all levels, in particular, in the OSCE.

“I believe that the conflict can only be resolved where all parties sit at the same table. And therefore, we can also play our role together with our European partners, ”Kassis is quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview with TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov, warned that if Kiev starts a “war against Donbass”, the Russian and Belarusian armed forces will fight back Ukraine together.

Recall that back in November-December last year, the world media was filled with the topic of the alleged Russian invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions that should follow. According to the authors and experts of these publications, a sign of “invasion” is the concentration of Russian military equipment in the regions bordering Ukraine. Among the likely sanctions are both the shutdown of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, as well as restrictions against Russian energy companies, and the shutdown of the SWIFT interbank settlement system.

And at the end of 2021, Russia presented its vision of security in Europe to the United States. On January 26, US Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan handed over Washington’s written response to Russia’s proposals for security guarantees.

Later that day, State Department Secretary Anthony Blinken told a briefing that the US response to Russian security guarantee proposals included Washington’s concerns about Moscow’s actions and the US proposal.

“We have clearly indicated that there are basic principles that we will uphold and defend, including the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as the right of states to choose their security measures and alliances,” he explained.

For his part, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg clarified that the alliance handed over its terms to Russia “in parallel with the United States.” According to him, NATO’s response to Russia’s European security initiatives includes Ukraine and the situation around it. NATO Secretary General once again called on Moscow to “de-escalate”. Also, he added, Russia should withdraw its troops from Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.
