Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov, who won the first gold for the Russian Federation at the Winter Olympics in Beijing today, accidentally broke the podium.

The incident happened when the winner of the skiathlon jumped on it during the awards ceremony – as a result, the plastic part with the inscription “Beijing2022” broke off.

Recall that Bolshunov won the skiathlon – 15 km classic and 15 km free run, finishing with the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee and welcoming the audience. In second place is another Russian – Denis Spitsov, and the “bronze” belongs to Finn Iivo Niskanen.

Meanwhile, it became known that the Norwegian team decided to file a protest against Bolshunov. The reason for dissatisfaction was the fact that the Russian athlete, during the change of skis, “put” his stick in the replacement zone of the Norwegian Johannes Klebo.

As REN TV notes, it is noticeable on the video that at the 39th minute Bolshunov throws sticks when changing skis – one of them falls on its side and ends up in the Norwegian zone.

Meanwhile, the well-known commentator Dmitry Guberniev, in a conversation with Sport-Express, reacted to the victory of the Russians in the following way: “Incredible Bolshunov, heroic Spitsov! Norway, goodbye.

For his part, the president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, said that Bolshunov and Spitsov showed a fantastic result in the skiathlon.
