Russia “pulled to the borders of Ukraine about 70% of the forces and means necessary for a large-scale invasion.” This, according to Interfax, reports The Washington Post, citing sources from among officials and employees of American intelligence.

According to the publication, “for a possible attack, Russia has prepared 83 battalion tactical groups of about 750 troops each.”

It is noted that “forces, including bridging units, continue to arrive at the border.” The publication claims that “Russia has 20 to 30 warships in the Black Sea and could launch amphibious assaults along the coast.”

The article stated that “according to updated US military and intelligence estimates presented to lawmakers and European partners”, Russia would “take two days” to enter Kiev. According to the publication, this could “lead to the death of up to 50 thousand civilians (…), cause a humanitarian crisis, as a result of which up to 5 million refugees will flee from the resulting chaos.”

Meanwhile, Reuters, citing two unnamed US officials, reported that the losses of the Ukrainian military in the event of an “invasion” by Russia could range from 5,000 to 25,000 people. According to the publication, from 25 thousand to 50 thousand may die among the civilian population, from 3 thousand to 10 thousand among the Russian military. The total maximum number of possible victims in the event of a Russian “invasion”, according to the United States, is 85 thousand. According to the publication, “this graph, as well as the growing number of Russian military forces near Ukraine, may indicate that the window of diplomacy is closing.”

Earlier, the US agency Bloomberg published a headline about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, then removed it and acknowledged the error. According to the press secretary of the head of the Russian state, Dmitry Peskov, “it is the actions of daily, daily pumping up Ukraine with weapons that lead to precisely such tension, and during such tension, any spark is extremely dangerous.”
