The rains continue to wreak havoc in several provinces of the country. Heavy rains caused a landslide on the Salinas-Lita road, in Imbabura.
The Ecu911 of Ibarra reported this Sunday a landslide in the section of km 114 of that road. Rocks and earth covered part of that road, interrupting vehicular traffic.
The entity indicated that in the face of this landslide, this section will remain disabled indefinitely.
Ecu911 recommended using alternate routes such as Ibarra – Tulcán – Chical – Gualchán or the Ibarra – Urcuquí – Buenos Aires route.
While a provisional lane was enabled for vehicular flow on the E10 Ibarra – San Lorenzo highway, which suffered a new landslide due to the rains in that area, on the morning of this Saturday 5.
Reports from the National Police and ECU911, that the section affected by the landslide and stones at kilometer 114. “Material continues to be evicted between kilometers 101 and 115, with the support of machinery from the Ministry of Transport and Public Works ( MTOP), Mayor of Ibarra and Prefecture of Imbabura”, wrote the ECU911 of Ibarra on his Twitter account.
Transporters are recommended to travel through the alternate routes Tulcán – Chical – Guallupe and San Gerónimo – Cahuasquí – Urcuquí – Ibarra, said Luis Rea Hinojoza, provincial director of the Imbabura MTOP.
While yesterday afternoon, in Azuay, a landslide was recorded at the La Fortuna mine, in the Ponce Enríquez canton. The Risk Management Service indicated that this landslide is related to rainfall in the area.
After this situation, people from the Municipality and the Fire Department went to the site to find out what was new.
No people were reported missing, injured or killed in the landslide, authorities said. (I)
