They revoke a measure to suspend the functions of a Manabi prosecutor linked to the case of the model Naomi Arcentales

Portoviejo

The suspension of Juan Carlos Izquierdo from his activities as a prosecutor in the El Carmen canton, which was ordered by María del Carmen Maldonado, former president of the Judicial Council, was revoked hours before the official resigned from her position.

In a statement that arrived in the mail of his defense lawyers this Friday, February 4, it is indicated that the preventive measure of suspension of the exercise of functions of the prosecutor in question, ordered on December 19, is revoked. That suspension was ordered hours after a video was released on social networks where the prosecutor allegedly had an altercation with his partner, Naomi Arcentales, a young man from Manabi who was found dead on December 12.

Precisely because of that death, the family of the young woman from the Pedernales canton continues an action against the prosecutor.

Maldonado’s action is framed in resolution PRE-002-2022 revoking the preventive measure of suspension.

Investigation into the death of model Naomi Arcentales will now take place in Quito

Julio César Cueva, attorney for the prosecutor, pointed out that this resolution is the simple execution of a constitutional sentence that, if not observed, would lead to non-compliance and dismissal of the disregarded official. (I)
