Police evicted street dwellers from the Los Molinos sector, in the center of Quito

In the place they found backpacks, purses, clothes and objects for drug consumption.

Since the morning of this Friday, October 22, several inter-institutional operations were carried out in Quito, among the intervened places are La Marín and Los Molinos, in the center of the capital.

These sectors are among the 27 critical points identified by the authorities to control in the state of exception decreed by President Guillermo Lasso.

In the morning registered station users of the transport system Ecovía. In a few hours of work, Cesar Zapata, DMQ Police Commander, reported that they had already seized more than five sharps and other tools used to assault passengers.

They also went to the The Clover, where some abandoned mills serve as a lair for street dwellers. Backpacks, purses, clothing and artisanal objects to consume drugs found the police officers, who cleaned the area and evicted five people who were in the place.

César Zapata said that in that place a violent death occurred the previous week, the product of a fight between street dwellers.

The Secretary of Security, Daniela Valarezo, reported that the operations will continue to add the work of various entities. He indicated that they will request the support of the Police Quartermaster to intensify operations and avoid events that take place without authorization and allowed capacity, also to control places of sale of beverages without health documentation.

According to information from the Secretary of Security, from October 20 to 21 they carried out 152 interventions with different municipal entities. They also pointed out that the confrontations with informal vendors continue in the historic center, however, “they are also being provided with an accompaniment to be relocated,” explained Valarezo.

The assaults continue

On the night of Thursday, October 21, the assault on a financial institution located on La Prensa avenue, in the north of the capital. Special agents from the Intervention and Rescue Group (GIR) went to the scene and cordoned off the area when they found the presence of explosive material.

According to information from the National Police, after the assault on this entity criminals threw a bundle to the facilities, the Explosives Unit confirmed that it was a handcrafted artifact containing dynamite.
