Over 40 years of age will be able to access a booster dose after five months of applying the second

The Ministry of Health announced this Friday night that it reduced to five months the interval for applying the booster dose for those over 40 years of age who have already received the second dose.

The new provision will be in force from February 7. Before, this interval was already allowed for those over 18 years of age with moderate and severe immunosuppression, as well as pregnant and lactating women; strategic sector and armed forces personnel; health personnel, education, universities (teachers, administrative staff and students) and institutions (public and private).

These are the vaccination centers available this weekend in Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón

For people between 18 and 39 years old, you must wait six months after applying the second.

From February 1, those over 45 years of age were allowed access to the booster dose after five months of applying the second.

This measure had been taken due to the increase in cases of COVID-19 in the presence of the omicron variant. (I)
