After 12 people were poisoned to death with cocaine in Argentina, local authorities asked citizens to throw away the drug they had purchased in the last two days, as it could be from the “poisoned” party. It is reported by The Guardian.
According to the publication, at least 84 people are now in intensive care, and the number of victims is likely to increase.
According to local doctors, cocaine, diluted with some kind of toxic substance, causes a fatal cardiac and respiratory arrest in less than an hour. Some patients died of an overdose at home alone. Local news and social media showed videos of people “convulsing” as their relatives drove them to hospitals in their cars. Most of the victims are men between the ages of 30 and 50.
In this regard, the authorities are asking Argentines not to use cocaine, which they may have bought in the past two days.
According to preliminary data, all doses that caused poisoning were purchased from one supplier in Tres de Febrero. After the incident, raids began in the region, drugs seized during the raids are compared with those used by the victims in order to establish their source.
