Quarantine for contact persons with patients with coronavirus under conditions of exposure to the strain of coronavirus “omicron” loses its meaning. It is planned to cancel it in the near future, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.

“This is a feature of the epidemic process specifically for the omicron,” she explained. “Special actions to limit contact just don’t make sense.”

According to her, if there is another variant of the strain of coronavirus, then there will probably be a different “epidemiological tactic”.

According to RIA Novosti, Popova explained that “omicron” is transmitted very quickly, and often causes an asymptomatic course of the disease. In the country as a whole, about 17-20% of people with coronavirus do not have symptoms, and in Moscow this figure reaches 40%, Popova said.

She noted that it is not yet clear whether a person who has recovered from the omicron variant of the coronavirus can become infected with the delta strain.

According to Popova, it is necessary to take a coronavirus test for those who have symptoms. “If I have an indisposition, then my doctor and I, we must know exactly what I am ill with. If only because today we still have a high proportion of influenza, and the tactics of treating covid and influenza are almost diametrically opposed,” the head of the department said.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor reduced the period of isolation for contact persons from 14 to seven days.

Meanwhile, the government of the Russian Federation is now studying the possibility of issuing QR codes to people for a sufficient level of antibodies to the coronavirus.
