They arrest a suspect in the disappearance of a Chinese citizen, whose body was found in a vacant lot in Imbabura

The National Police apprehended this Wednesday, February 2, a new suspect in the case of the disappearance of Chinese citizen Li Li Chuang, which occurred in Imbabura almost a year ago.

According to police inquiries, the 44-year-old victim traveled on February 22, 2021, from San Lorenzo to Ibarra accompanied by an apparent business partner Carlos P., who invited him to his home for two days. He remained that time in that place and then no more news of him was obtained.

The last indication that the police have is a video that Chuang made in the El Arcángel sector (Ibarra), which he sent to a friend in the Republic of China, in which it shows that he was still alive.

On the previous February 27, the complaint about his disappearance was filed, and this police unit began the investigation and search.

For now, three people would be involved in this murder, according to the National Directorate of Crimes against Life, Violent Deaths, Disappearances, Extortion and Kidnapping (Dinased). One of those people, a woman, was arrested a month ago.

This Wednesday, February 2, Fabricio Miguel EO was arrested, in the Alpachaca neighborhood, for his alleged participation as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of involuntary disappearance.

The apprehension of the suspect made it possible to determine that the disappeared person was buried in a vacant lot, in the La Esperanza parish, on the road to Zuleta, said Diego Villamarín, head of the Dinased in Imbabura.

In a sector of that area, the skeleton of an Asian citizen who was reported missing on February 24, 2021 was recovered.

Police officers who went to the place where the body was located assured that it was in a complete state of decomposition.

With the presence of a prosecutor, they carried out the corresponding judicial proceedings and transferred the remains to the morgue of the San Vicente de Paúl hospital in Ibarra to continue with the legal procedures.

Villamarín indicated that the investigations carried out with technological means and documentary and field analysis led to the issuance of three investigative tickets against the same number of people involved in this case. Two are being prosecuted and a third is in the police crosshairs.

The authority announced that the investigation into this criminal act still continues with other proceedings. (I)
