The robbery of a citizen in the streets of Ambato was recorded on a video surveillance camera.
The incident occurred around noon on Tuesday the 1st on Bolívar and Fernández streets, in the downtown area of Ambato, where several savings and credit cooperatives operate.
The images of the event were released on social networks, where users lamented the fact. In an excerpt from the video, two armed subjects are seen approaching a woman with indigenous features in order to take away the backpack that she apparently carries with money.
In the midst of struggles, another person also from an indigenous community tries to approach to help the affected, but one of the assailants apparently threatens him, before which he leaves the site.

While his backpack is snatched from him, one of the antisocials points towards the street to threaten those who apparently wanted to get closer.
Later, a third individual on a motorcycle appears on the scene and picks up the two antisocials who end up carrying the bag, while the victim is seen lamenting what happened.
Dorys Aguilar, coordinator of the Chamber of Neighborhoods of Ambato, expressed her concern about the criminal cases that are registered in the city and listed several of the requests presented to the provincial authorities.
In previous meetings, the coordinator said that emphasis has been placed on the need to have appropriate laws for the punishment of those who commit these crimes, since, in some cases, when members of the National Police detain those involved in criminal acts, they arrive before the competent authorities and they are released “for pleading not guilty”.

He commented that in this case the organization that the neighborhoods have with the Community Police is useless and assured that another of the requests has been the provision of more patrol cars, motorcycles and above all enough personnel to carry out their work.
In the case of the assaulted woman, who had apparently withdrawn money from a financial institution, she recalled that the Police have a portfolio of services for the protection of citizens in this type of case. That, she said, is sought to spread in the neighborhoods so that citizens consider it when transporting large sums of money. (I)
