Saidi Yangulbaev and his representatives will appeal against the decision of the Chechen panel of judges, which deprived him of the status of a retired judge and immunity. A complaint will be filed with the Higher Qualification Board of Judges of Russia, Yangulbaev himself said in a comment to RBC.

According to the ex-judge, he knew about the intentions to deprive him of the status of a retired judge. “Of course, I did not expect this, because there is no reason to terminate this status. This is stated in the law. This can only be done if I have obtained citizenship or a residence permit in another state. We will appeal this decision,” Yangulbaev said.

The former judge noted that even in the event of deprivation of his powers, the judges also gathered members of the qualification board in one day “in violation of all procedural norms.” Yangulbaev suggested that now they would want to open a criminal case against him.

Family members of the former federal judge criticized the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, for which they were subsequently accused of aiding terrorism and received death threats, including from State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov and from Ramzan Kadyrov himself. The formal occasion was statements about local revered religious figures.

The ex-judge and his two sons fled, while his wife Zarema Musaeva was taken out of her home in Nizhny Novgorod under the pretext of interrogation in a criminal case and later placed in a special detention center in Grozny on charges of “petty hooliganism.” In addition, she is accused of using violence against a police officer in the police department. Both sons of Zarema Musaeva are also prosecuted.

A rally of thousands of men who came to condemn the Yangulbaev family took place in Grozny the day before. Also today, a video was published with a repentant appeal from the brother and other relatives of the ex-judge’s family.

The Board of Judges of Chechnya terminated the resignation of Judge Saidi Yangulbaev, thus depriving him of immunity. Now a criminal case may be opened against Yangulbaev.
