Ecuador is in a new epidemiological scenario this week with measures that are beginning to relax, after the decrease in infections reported in the first weeks of January.
According to health authorities, the positivity of COVID-19 has dropped to less than 50% in the last week in Ecuador.
In Guayas, COVID-19 cases have fallen to 100-150 daily. In Quito there are between 714 and 852 newspapers. Only Manabí and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas maintain a higher occupancy of beds per case.
Representatives of the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) updated the traffic light system. With this, in red are 21 cantons; in yellow, 166 cantons, and in green, 34 cantons.

After these changes, the COE urges the municipalities, based on their powers, to issue regulations to comply with public health measures in accordance with the new capacity guidelines. These must be valid for activities in force from this Thursday, February 3.

Among the cantons with a high alert level, that is, at a red light are Nangaritza, Sevilla de Oro, Colimes, Montecristi, Huamboya, Tiwintza, San Miguel de los Bancos, Cascales, Putumayo, Tisaleo, Guamote, Taisha, Yacuambi, Alausí, Playas, Urdaneta, Loreto, Arajuno, Pastaza and La Libertad. (I)
