A howler monkey that was helped this Tuesday, February 1, after it was attacked by dogs, died this Wednesday, February 2, in the canton of El Carmen, province of Manabí.

The previous Tuesday, the mayor of El Carmen, Rodrigo Mena, through his social networks announced that a howler monkey had been rescued in the Paraíso-Pita sector of that canton in the north of Manabí, for which Fire Department personnel arrived to that site to assist the animal.

They find two white howler monkeys with leucism, a sample of the isolated wildlife that survives in the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest

After being helped, he was transferred to the center of El Carmen, where he received veterinary attention, as he had several dog bite wounds on his body, according to the information received by those who found him injured in the middle of banana plantations.

Despite the efforts of the professionals, this Wednesday afternoon Mena himself on his social networks indicated that the monkey did not resist the injuries caused by the dogs.

“It is with sadness that I must report that the howler monkey that was treated by rescuers from the Fire Department and assisted by a veterinarian from the El Carmen GAD has died,” the mayor said on social media. (I)
