The Sferum information and communication platform for schoolchildren and teachers, created by VK (formerly Mail.ru Group) and Rostelecom, has vulnerabilities that allow anyone to contact schoolchildren. This, according to Novye Izvestia, was reported by the newspaper Vedomosti, referring to the organization for supporting families with children and protecting children, We are for Change.

And about. Anastasia Likhobaba, head of the organization, in an appeal to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, head of Rosobrnadzor Anzor Muzaev, Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov and Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev writes that it is necessary to check the platform and stop using it.

She noticed that registration on the platform is done automatically when you click on the invitation link that is sent on VKontakte. At the same time, the platform does not check the age of the participants. Parents are afraid that under the guise of a student, adult users can also register there. Andrey Afanasiev, a member of the Parents’ Chamber organization, registered on the platform under the guise of a student in nine schools without any problems. And for two months, no one identified the fraud and removed it.

Moreover, he was able to see the personal data of all the students of these schools registered in the system, write to them, create private chats, turn on video communication, while children do not have the opportunity to block an adult user who has entered the platform.

Public activists fear that drug dealers, pedophiles or other criminals can contact children in this way. Programmer Sergey Vakulin noted that teenagers who want to play a trick on other children and teachers are also hooligans in the system. As a rule, this happened when invitation links to conferences were “leaked”.

To date, 27 thousand educational organizations and 2.5 million people in more than 15 regions are connected to Sferum. These figures are planned to be increased.
