PhD in Philosophy, head of transpersonal programs at the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis Vladimir Maykov spoke about the impact of the new covid realities on the life of Russians.

According to him, society has responded to the changes with an increased interest in esoteric literature and books on meditation. “The main thing is the interest in books on the development of mindfulness, meditation, I would rate this as a positive result, which, of course, is associated with the spirit of the times. This spirit of the times has been catalyzed by the last two years of the COVID-19 epidemic,” the psychologist told the Moskva agency.

Maikov called “a positive aspect of global retreat” the rise in interest in this literature. Thus, people got the opportunity to engage in creativity and self-development, the expert believes.

At the same time, he notes a drop in demand for religious literature. According to the expert, “this suggests that traditional ideas are less suitable for modern people.”
