Russia banned the entry of State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro Zoran Milyanich after granting political asylum to businessman Telman Ismailov in this country. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
“On February 2, a note from the Russian Foreign Ministry was sent to the Embassy of Montenegro in the Russian Federation on a ban on entry into the Russian Federation to Zoran Milyanich, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro. This measure is a response to an unfriendly step taken by the Montenegrin authorities in October 2021 — granting political asylum to a citizen of the Russian Federation Telman Ismailov, who was put on the international wanted list through Interpol for committing especially serious crimes on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Telman Ismailov was detained in Podgorica on October 1 on an Interpol warrant initiated by Russia. After receiving information about this, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request to the Montenegrin authorities for his extradition. Ismailov is accused of organizing contract killings (Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), illegal arms trafficking (Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and kidnapping of the singer Abraham Russo (Article 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Also, another case was opened against him – about deliberate bankruptcy in the amount of more than $ 180 million.
