The Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus has opened a criminal case against a Polish judge who refused to extradite the founder of the opposition Telegram channel NEXTA Stepan Putilo to Minsk. According to the agency, the actions of the judge of the District Court of Warsaw, Dariusz Lubowski, “confirm the deliberate bias and fabrication of the trial in a specific criminal case, its politicization and ordered nature.”

For the production of a preliminary investigation, the criminal case was sent to the Investigative Committee of Belarus.

NEXTA is one of the Telegram channels that helped the Belarusian opposition coordinate their actions after the 2020 presidential election. The group of Telegram channels NEXTA was recognized by the court in Belarus as extremist materials, their founders Stepan Putilo and Roman Protasevich were included in the republic in the list of those involved in terrorism, criminal cases were initiated against them. Unlike Roman Protasevich, who continues to be under house arrest, Stepan Putilo is still outside Belarus.
