A Norwegian court has rejected a parole petition filed by mass murderer Andres Breivik. It is reported by Reuters.
Breivik, who killed 77 people, claimed that he was not a danger to society and demanded that he be released. Meanwhile, psychiatrists were sure that the terrorist’s condition had not changed, and the country’s prosecutor’s office warned of the threat of his new crimes. The court ruled that Breivik must remain in prison.
Recall that the killer was sentenced to 21 years in prison for the attacks in 2011. Eight people died in the bombing of Breivik in the center of Oslo, he killed 69 more people in a youth camp. About 150 people were injured. According to the verdict, the killer received a term that can be extended indefinitely if the court decides that the offender remains a danger to society.
Breivik, 42, is in solitary confinement, which has three rooms, a TV, a shower, a computer and exercise equipment. He can study and take exams at the university. He had the right to seek parole after serving the first ten years of his sentence. He can also apply for release one year after each refusal.
