A total of eight minors were rescued within the raids carried out as part of an investigation into trafficking in persons in Quito.
As part of an investigation due to a possible crime of trafficking in persons for the purposes of exploitation of labor, children and begging, the Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police carried out between the afternoon and night this Thursday an operation in various parts of Quito. The inquiry process had the support of the United States Embassy in Ecuador.

A total of four homes were raided by the authorities after months of intelligence operations and the gathering of information about an organization that recruited and captured people to exploit them in ways different inside and outside the country. Special unit agents such as the Special Operations Group (GOE), the Dinapen and the Judicial Police supported the actions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
In the raids, eight children were rescued and placed in the care of agents of the Dinapen, a police unit specializing in minors. Eight people were also arrested in the raided homes, which were brought to render a version before they are brought before the justice authorities for the respective hearing to formulate charges.
Cash, lots of children’s clothing, as well as documents and other evidence related to the case they got up in the places where they were located rescued minors and detained adults.
It was announced from the National Police that a press conference would be held in the next few hours to give more details on the dismantling of this criminal group. (I)
