Tesla has announced that it will be recalling 53,822 electric cars in the US due to software bugs. According to Reuters, the Full Self-Driving autonomous control system installed on electric cars made it possible to continue driving at an intersection at a speed of 9 km / h, even if there was a stop sign. Representatives of the company stressed that they are not aware of the accidents that could occur due to this error.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the recall applies to select vehicles in the 2016-2022 Model S and Model X, 2017-2022 Model 3 and 2020-2022 Model Y.
According to NHTSA, Tesla will perform an over-the-air software update that will disable the “sliding stop” feature. The company has not yet commented on this information.
In early January, it became known that the fortune of the American billionaire Elon Musk grew by $32.6 billion in a day – up to $304.2 billion – thanks to the rapid rise in the price of Tesla shares. Tesla shares were reported to soar 7% amid record sales of electric cars. The company previously set a record for annual deliveries of electric vehicles. In 2021, it was able to deliver almost twice as many electric cars to customers as it did in 2020.
