The US State Department ordered the departure of family members of American civil servants from Belarus, according to the website of the diplomatic department.

According to the report, the decision was made in connection with the increase in “unusual and worrying Russian military activity near the border with Ukraine.” The State Department says the situation is currently “unpredictable” and there is “increased tension” in the region.

In addition, US citizens are advised to refrain from traveling to Belarus given the “increased instability of the situation”, and those already in the country to exercise “high vigilance regarding political and military tensions in the region”, avoid public demonstrations and “regularly review possible departure plans in the event of an emergency.”

Last week, the State Department allowed US civil servants to leave Ukraine and decided that their families must leave Kiev without fail.
