It makes sense to turn off the mobile Internet at night – this will extend the life of the phone’s battery, Evgeny Kashkin, associate professor of the Department of Intelligent Information Security Systems at RTU MIREA, told PRIME.

According to him, this is especially true for devices older than 3-4 years – connecting to 4G can reduce battery power by a couple of tens of percent.

“In addition, if you have not set special settings for updating mobile applications exclusively via wi-fi, then it is at night that your smartphone will start downloading them via the mobile Internet. So, overnight you can use up a significant part of the mobile traffic package, ”the expert emphasizes.

He also pointed out that many mobile applications request access to geolocation even when the phone is running in the background – each such “connection” consumes both data and battery power.

At the same time, Kashkin noted, at night there may be problems with the battery due to the charge from the network, which the user will not be able to see in time, and which can lead to extremely negative consequences. One of them can be a strong heating of the smartphone and changes in the geometry of the battery.

Recall also that earlier the Russians were told about the dangers of charging a smartphone at night.
