Four people were injured as a result of a gas release and fire at a field in the Surgut region of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO). This is reported by TASS with reference to a source in the emergency services of the region.

“During the work, according to preliminary information, during the descent of the perforator into the well, gas was released at the field in the Surgut region. Four people were injured, they were taken to the hospital with burns,” the source said.

The fire is extinguished. The prosecutor’s office of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug organized an inspection.

On November 25, 2021, smoke and an explosion occurred at the Listvyazhnaya coal mine in the Belovsky urban district of the Kemerovo region. 51 people died. After that, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the owners of industrial enterprises, including coal mines, to eliminate the consequences of a negative impact on the environment. It was clarified that the responsibility of enterprises for the entire life cycle of facilities is introduced, they will not be able to stop hazardous production without eliminating the accumulated harm to the environment. It follows from the text that the owners of enterprises will be required five years before the completion of the operation of the facilities to develop an action plan for the prevention and elimination of environmental pollution and obtain a positive conclusion from the state environmental review. The document will include the estimated cost of these activities and confirmation of financial support for their implementation.
