The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded the citizens of St. Petersburg about the safety rules due to bad weather

In St. Petersburg today, the weather has deteriorated sharply – a strong snowstorm has hit the city with gusts of southeast wind up to 18 m / s, and snow drifts and black ice have formed on the roads.

Due to bad weather, the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for St. Petersburg reminded residents and guests of the Northern capital of the safety rules.

So, in particular, it is recommended to remove “household items from the courtyard of the house and from the balcony” and close the windows.

“Put the car in the garage, and in the absence of a garage, park the car away from trees, as well as away from weakly fortified structures,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a statement.

In addition, rescuers advise, “while on the street”, it will be safer to bypass “billboards, rickety buildings and houses with unstable roofs”, as well as avoid “trees and various high-risk structures (bridges, overpasses, pipelines, power lines, potentially dangerous industrial facilities).

In icy conditions, it is necessary to move “carefully, slowly, stepping on the entire sole,” remind the Ministry of Emergencies.

At the same time, rescuers recommend, “it is better for older people to use a cane with a rubber tip or a stick with a pointed end.”

“Do not cross the roadway near moving cars, you can slip and fall under the wheels of a car,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations warns.

In addition, motorists should observe the speed limit, when driving during icy / icy conditions, strictly keep the required distance (it should be two to three times more than in summer), use studded tires on all four wheels of the car.

At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds that in the event of any emergency, you need to urgently call the rescue service by calling “01”, mobile phone owners should dial the number “112” or “101”.
