People infected with the omicron strain of coronavirus often complain of a runny nose. This symptom must be taken seriously, otherwise the disease will negatively affect the brain. Vladimir Zaitsev, an ENT doctor of the highest category, warned about this in an interview with Sputnik radio.

According to him, when infected with “omicron”, a runny nose lasts longer than usual, and this can negatively affect the brain.

“A runny nose with an omicron is not as harmless as it might seem at first glance. The fact is that nasal breathing ventilates our brain by 70%. If nasal breathing is either muffled or completely absent, then the brain is very much deprived of oxygen. Of course, the brain will continue to work, but it will give some echoes at first, and then it can become a problem when the head is “cast iron” due to hypoxia or will constantly split from pain, ”explained Zaitsev.

At the same time, he pointed out, if a runny nose does not go away in five to seven days, it is necessary to get professional medical help. And in the acute phase of the disease, when inflammation of the nasal mucosa is accompanied by other symptoms of infection with a viral infection, the doctor should be called to the house.

“It is very important to breathe through the nose fully, and it is very important to be sober about your health. If a person sees that the runny nose goes away and breathing returns to normal, then everything is fine. If after a week the symptoms increase and do not want to go anywhere, then this is already one hundred percent reason to consult a doctor. If at the same time a person feels weakness, fever, headache, then these are the real signs of “omicron”. Then you don’t have to go to the doctor’s clinic anymore, because you will infect everyone there. It is necessary to call a doctor at home, ”advises the doctor.

Recall also, the day before, the therapist Marina Astafieva named the two most common symptoms of the Omicron strain – headaches and asthenia.

In turn, Honored Doctor of Russia Mikhail Kagan listed the medicines that should be kept in the first-aid kit in case of the first symptoms of coronavirus, including “omicron”.
