Pachakutik and the Government agree on dialogues for tax, labor and investment issues

This Friday the Conaie meets in Chimborazo to know the results of this first dialogue with Pachakutik prior to the announced mobilizations

Generating tables for dialogue before submitting bills to the National Assembly is one of the commitments reached between the Pachakutik bench and the national government, within their desire to obtain support in the legislature for their urgent economic projects that will begin to arrive from on October 25 to the legislature.

The President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, met in Carondelet with the leadership of the Pachakutik movement and nine legislators from that political store to discuss the scope of urgent economic projects whose root is the proposal to create opportunities, and they also spoke of the mechanisms that would lead to improve Executive-Legislative relations.

The Government and Pachakutik set four priority issues to continue with the dialogue

The coordinator of the Pachakutik bench, Rafael Lucero, described the meeting held on October 20 as productive, where they were able to know the order in which the bills will be sent, first the tax reform, then the labor reform and finally the investment issue.

Pachakutik proposed to the first president, according to Lucero, the necessary opening so that he can collect the contributions of the bench, and that before they officially enter the legislature they can have access to a draft to make the contributions and generate dialogue tables.

The results of these dialogues will be presented at an expanded assembly of the Conaie in the Colta canton in Chimborazo. He clarified that Conaie has historical demands that Pachakutik respects and shares, for example, the issue of fuels. The mobilizations are a decision of the Conaie, the bloc is dedicated to supervising and legislating, he noted.

Regarding the tax reform, the Pachakutik movement made clear its position that they should not put their hands in the pockets of Ecuadorians again and that alternatives be sought, for which they promised to establish roundtables on this matter.

On the issue of fuel prices, the debate took more than an hour, and according to Rafael Lucero, it was explained that the current prices almost reach the international range and therefore, a review is necessary on the modality of monthly fixing of derivatives of petroleum, and that could bring social stability to the country, and with it they will enter to have social, labor and economic stability.

He clarified that the revision of fuel prices is not a condition for maintaining the dialogues, because it is a power of the president, who has promised to analyze the petition.

Lucero said that in this first dialogue there was total openness from side to side, and considered that the Ecuadorian people do not need polarizations between the powers of the State, but unity.

But not all Pachakutik legislators agree with holding such meetings with the Executive, and in response to this, Rafael Lucero said that he was accompanied by the national coordinator of the movement, Marlon Santi, who is the highest authority.

Juan Fernando Flores, coordinator of the National Agreement Bank (BAN), stressed that in this first approach in Carondelet with Pachakutik, a point of dialogue was established in which both parties listened to each other, where it was understood that all points of divergence should be exposed and reach consensus by establishing a roadmap.

One of the agreements is that for the bills that are related to the Opportunities Creation project, there will be technical tables with the banks with the Democratic Left and Pachakutik, with whom they have advanced dialogues, where the drafts of the projects that will be presented will be presented. They will enter the legislature so that intermediate points are established in that space and have prior agreements that allow their subsequent approval by the plenary session.

Flores said that this weekend there will be a dialogue with the heads of the Democratic Left, Alejandro Jaramillo, and Rafael Lucero, of Pachakutik, on the economic issue so that next week the first urgent project on the matter can be presented. tributary. All this to advance the criteria and find the points of consensus. The idea is to prevent the bills from being subject to a presidential veto, he said.

For next Tuesday, at 6:00 p.m., the meeting in Carondelet of the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, with the legislators of the Democratic Left regarding the bills that will be sent to Parliament.

According to Flores, they are awaiting the response of the coordinators of the Union for Hope (UNES) and the Christian Social Party (PSC) benches, to establish dialogues on the terms reached with Pachakutik. (I)
