The Ministry of Health said in a statement that this is the third donation from the Government of Hungary to Ecuador during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In September of last year, the Hungarian Government donated 20,000 vaccines against DPT (diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough) to the Ministry of Health and also in October of the same year delivered 100,000 masks for citizens in a situation of mobility.
“I have the opportunity to deliver today the third donation with which we hope to continue assisting Ecuador and vaccination. The Government of Hungary has considered Ecuador as an important and safe partner in Latin America. We hope that together we can put an end to the coronavirus pandemic”, mentioned Miklós Tamás Paczuk, Hungarian ambassador to Ecuador, highlighting the good diplomatic relations between both nations.
At the event, Aldaz highlighted the contribution of citizens and nations such as Hungary to achieve good results in the vaccination plan.
“Nine out of ten citizens have received their first dose. Eight out of ten the second and more than two and a half million citizens have the reinforcement”, he pointed out.
According to the vaccinometer, a portal that shows the statistical data of the anti-COVID-19 immunization plan, in Ecuador 14,105,121 first doses and 13,286,510 second doses have been applied until last January 28. In addition, a total of 2,520,028 booster doses have been placed with a cutoff as of the same date.
The doses donated by Hungary will be used for booster vaccination in the country, said the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, through social networks. (I)
