They arrest the stepmother of tortured children in Naranjal

Mariana QH was arrested in recent hours for the case of the two underage brothers tortured in the Naranjal canton, Guayas province.

The detainee is the stepmother of both infants who were victims of abuse and torture last year in that canton. His capture took place in the early hours of this Saturday the 29th in Naranjal, the Prosecutor’s Office indicated.

The institution explained that last Wednesday the apprehension of Maicon VM, father of the attacked minors, was achieved in the Taura parish of the Naranjal canton.

The authorities were looking for both defendants since last December 1.

At that time, the Prosecutor’s Office detailed that a judge of the Multicompetent Criminal Judicial Unit of Naranjal ordered preventive detention against Mariana Q., stepmother of the children, after the reformulation of charges of rape and torture.

At the hearing, Maicon VM, father of the infants, who received preventive detention, and also Paula V., grandmother of the minors, who must comply with alternative measures, were linked.

For this same case, at the beginning of this month, the Judiciary Council decided to dismiss the prosecutors who carried out the first investigations in the case of both minors in Naranjal, denounced last September.

Previously, last October, the president of the Judiciary, María del Carmen Maldonado, resolved the suspension of the two prosecutors during the disciplinary investigation process, after the previous declaration of manifest negligence by the Provincial Court of Justice of Guayas. (I)
