Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which insurance pensions in the country will be “retroactively” – from January 1 of this year – indexed at 8.6%.

Thus, after indexation, the average old-age insurance pension this year will reach 18,984 rubles, and this will affect almost 31 million Russians.

As Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma committee on labor and social policy, noted earlier, “the increase will only affect recipients of insurance pensions, and if pensioners do not work.” In his opinion, the deputies of the State Duma, when adopting the law, were late with indexation. According to him, the estimate of inflation at 8.6% is “much lower than real inflation in relation to certain categories of goods.”

We also add that it became known the day before that from February 1, the amount of a number of social payments, benefits and compensations will increase by 8.4%. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

We are talking, in particular, about payments received by the disabled, veterans, Chernobyl victims, Heroes of Russia, as well as citizens injured at work. At the same time, the size of the mother’s capital for the first child will increase to 524.5 thousand rubles, and for the second and subsequent children – up to 693.1 thousand rubles.
