Fraudsters in Russia began to massively send out advertisements about performances and concerts, leading to phishing sites where, instead of buying tickets online, the client subscribes and loses all his money on the card, PRIME reports.

According to the agency, VTB Bank recorded “an increase in the number of advertisements for buying tickets to concerts and performances using phishing sites with subscriptions.”

Fraudsters send advertising through a fake sales site using social networks, instant messengers, dating sites and email. The client is invited to fill out a phishing payment form, which includes personal and contact information, as well as details of his bank card.

“As a result,” the bank explained, “instead of buying tickets, the client signs up for a subscription on a website with accounts controlled by attackers. Then, funds are debited from the buyer’s bank card in the amount of 5 to 20 thousand rubles with a difference of 10-15 seconds. Transactions go through as long as the balance on the buyer’s card remains positive.

We also recall that earlier it became known that scammers most often “catch” Russians for letters about lotteries and social payments from the state.
