FSB border service released journalists detained near the border with Ukraine after 5 hours

Employees of the department of the border service of the FSB in the Rostov region released three journalists with protocols, who were detained during the day in the village of Kuibyshevo near the border of the Russian Federation with Ukraine.

According to the editors of Znak.com, their journalist Ignat Bakin, together with his colleagues, photographer of the Notebook-Rostov publication Alexander Prokhortsev and freelancer Gleb Golod, spent five hours in the FSB border service department. After lengthy interrogations, they were given protocols with a warning about a ban on working in the border zone without special passes.

Meanwhile, according to 161.ru, the border department of the Federal Security Service of the Rostov region explained that the journalists were detained in the border zone for violating the border regime.

“These persons conducted interviews with local residents about the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border, as well as photography,” the department explained.

Cases were initiated against journalists on administrative offenses under Part 1 of Art. 18.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, the maximum penalty for which is a fine of up to a thousand rubles.

Journalists started working near the border with Ukraine without the permission of the FSB. Notification must be issued when visiting any border area.

After a preventive conversation, the journalists left the Kuibyshevsky district of the Rostov region.
