Colleagues of the St. Petersburg Honored Artist, soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, who was detained on suspicion of pedophilia, published a petition in his support, addressed to the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, on the change.org website.
“We, representatives of the creative community, ask you to drop the charges and stop criminal prosecution against Anatoly Vasilievich Chepkov, horn soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra,” the petition says.
“As it became known to us, Anatoly Vasilyevich was detained on January 22, 2022 at the place of registration and residence, on charges of sexual assault against his granddaughter.
We categorically disagree with the indictment, and also consider it impossible to keep Anatoly Vasilyevich in custody due to his age (73 years) and existing chronic diseases, ”the petition says.
“During the verification period on the above fact, Anatoly Vasilyevich did not hide from the investigation and made contact with him, therefore, the chosen measure of restraint, in our opinion, is too cruel.
We ask you to conduct a thorough personal check on this criminal case, drawing attention to dubious facts and evidence that cause mistrust on the part of the public, ”the authors of the petition sum up.
Recall that Alexander Chepkov was detained on suspicion of pedophilia against his own granddaughter.
