According to the Russian embassy, about 370 tourists from Russia got stuck in Istanbul due to snowfall. These are only those who turned to diplomats for help. Among the victims there are both tourists who want to return to Moscow, and those who “burn out” transfer flights through Istanbul, including to Sri Lanka and Egypt. These Russians have to cancel transfers, rebook hotels, etc.

In total, at least 2 thousand domestic tourists suffered from delays and cancellations of flights, Turprom reports. At the same time, 10-12 thousand tourists from Russia can be in Istanbul, both organized and independent.

Recall that flights from Istanbul airport were suspended on Monday afternoon due to abnormal snowfalls.

The accumulated tourists staged a rally at the airport – the prices in the cafe are raised to the limit, and the food is running out. About a hundred tourists marched in a column through the airport’s waiting room, chanting “We need a hotel.” In response, the Turkish authorities sent security officials to the airport. Ali Kıdık, member of the Good Party of the IMM Assembly, said on social media: “Special police forces were called in so that the protests at the Istanbul airport would not lead to outrage.”
