Third anti-coronavirus dose for older adults will begin to be placed in November, according to government authorities

The booster began to be applied to health personnel who received their first dose last January. It is estimated that there will be about 110,000 people from the health sector.

From November, people aged 65 and over will begin to receive the third dose against the coronavirus.

That was the announcement that the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, on the Government’s goals with respect to anti-coronavirus vaccination for the last quarter of 2021.

He added that people with immune problems, but he did not give details of how the process will be.

The official participated in a virtual forum organized by the World Bank (WB) on vaccination, in which he referred to the Ecuadorian experience of the plan implemented by Guillermo Lasso’s regime since last May.

The third dose began to be applied from last Monday, October 18 to medical staff who received the first dose at the beginning of the year. It will be done in of the phases between October and November.

The main government objective to december is to cover 85% of the Ecuadorian population which includes stragglers aged 18 and over to whom apply AstraZeneca and CanSino if they are first doses and Pfizer, AstraZeneca y Sinovac if they are second doses; second doses to the population between 12 and 17 years 11 months and 29 days; and to the population from 5 to 11 years old, which began last Monday, October 18.

As of October 20, according to Garzón, they have been vaccinated 10’300,000 people.

According to vaccinometer, a tool created by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) to publicize how the vaccination plan is working, they have placed with cut-off on October 19, 11’402,145 first doses and 10’090.387 second doses.

The government goal is vaccinate 16’096.525 inhabitants of a population of more than 17’750,000.
