Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Anatoly Poveliy recognized the quality of snow removal on the streets of the city as unsatisfactory. According to him, if nothing is changed, the city housing and communal services will fall on the same rake every winter. He stated this during the Government Hour in the Legislative Assembly.
Poveliy explained that a non-standard winter, five cyclones and sharp thaws, during which many citizens were injured by slipping on icy sidewalks, made life difficult for public utilities. At the same time, the vice-governor emphasized that it was not about “mistakes”, but about “shortcomings” of cleaning.
Poveliy confirmed that there is a shortage of janitors in the city, but added that this is not the only problem.
“The Criminal Code is responsible for the piece of pavement in front of the front door and the icicles above it. For bridges – “Mostotrest”, for sections near the metro – State Unitary Enterprise “Metropolitan”. For children’s and sports grounds – municipalities, for sidewalks near business centers, shopping centers, private enterprises – their owners. All members of the orchestra are painted, as well as the notes. But not everyone plays according to the notes, and someone did not appear at the concert at all. I don’t want to blame a sick head on a healthy one, but because of this patchwork, because of this strife, Smolny turns out to be a hostage to the conscientiousness of each subject, ”the vice-governor emphasized.
During the discussion, the deputies added that 7,000 janitors work in the city, while the real need is 19,000.
Recall that in early January, the streets of St. Petersburg were littered with snow and debris.
