Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov once again called on Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements and warned against attempts to shift the responsibility for their non-compliance to Russia, a Rosbalt correspondent reports.
“Our position on the South-East of Ukraine is unchanged here – the internal Ukrainian crisis can be overcome only through the consistent and rigorous implementation of the Minsk package of measures in its entirety and consistency,” Lavrov said, speaking at the “right hour” in the State Duma.
At the same time, he noted that the Minsk agreements had previously been approved by a UN Security Council resolution and became “an integral part of international law.”
“The key to success here is the establishment of a direct dialogue between the parties to the conflict – Kiev, Donetsk and Luhansk,” Lavrov added and noted that Russia constantly appeals to “Western colleagues who have influence on the Kiev regime to force it to strictly comply with the Minsk agreements.”
“We will continue to severely suppress attempts to shift the responsibility for the lack of progress in their implementation to Russia, all the more to expose us as a party to the conflict,” Lavrov concluded.
Recall that earlier deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation submitted to the State Duma a draft appeal to the President of the Russian Federation on recognition of the independence of the LPR and the DPR.
