The Ministry of Culture presented a draft decree “On approval of the foundations of state policy for the preservation and strengthening of traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.”
The document outlines examples of traditional values: patriotism, humanism, a strong family, the priority of the spiritual over the material, mercy. Threats to these values, according to the Ministry of Culture: the United States, its allies, transnational companies, terrorists, extremists, foreign NGOs.
The creator and artistic director of the Moscow theater “School of the Modern Play”, GITIS professor Iosif Reichelgauz, in a commentary for BFM, said that this entire document is demagogy, similar to demagogy under Soviet rule. He noted that now a huge number of provincial theaters have fallen into decay, because the theaters “have turned into branches of the local administration, where some kind of congresses are held, entreprises are played, and local theaters are directed by directors – governor’s deputies.”
