The “explosive” increase in the incidence of coronavirus in St. Petersburg is due to the lack of vaccination among adolescents, the St. Petersburg TV channel reports, citing the words of the vice-governor of the city, Boris Piotrovsky.

According to Piotrovsky, minors turned out to be “the most vulnerable group of the population,” since until recently they had no opportunity to be vaccinated. “The vaccine for teenagers has just appeared in St. Petersburg, the vaccination of this group is only now starting,” the official added, commenting on the introduction of new restrictions for minors.

Recall, earlier it was reported that in St. Petersburg, children and adolescents were banned from visiting zoos, museums, and other crowded places due to an increase in the incidence of coronavirus. They were also denied access to exhibitions, swimming pools and fitness centers, theaters, cinemas, indoor ice rinks and aquariums and other places where they can follow the event as spectators. In addition, all additional education programs implemented outside of schools are transferred to a remote format, and face-to-face visits to state sections, clubs and studios are also prohibited. The restrictions will be in effect from January 28 to February 13.
