In the next few hours, the relatives of the boy who suffered from SMA would rule on legal action for alleged medical malpractice.
Portoviejo
Those who accompanied the funeral procession of Derek Gerard Pinargote García did so with light blue and white balloons. Blanco was also the coffin of the little boy, who for fourteen months battled spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
The companions also wore t-shirts with those colors of the sky and, in the center, the face of this little boy, a symbol of the struggle of the children who suffer from SMA in Ecuador.
“Don’t leave me, my son, let me bury myself with him!” Were part of the words shouted by Génesis García, Derek’s mother, who fainted a few minutes after her son was buried in a private cemetery in Portoviejo.
She and her husband spent close to 20 minutes over the small coffin, reminiscing about their short time on earth and refusing to believe that Derek was leaving them.
Derek’s remains arrived in Portoviejo; family denounces that there was alleged medical malpractice to a minor suffering from SMA
The small white box, in the lower part of which was a photograph of the little boy, descended at 12:30 on Tuesday, January 25.
A few minutes after that action, dozens of people who accompanied the funeral let the balloons fly.
The child’s parents have not wanted to speak publicly after a complaint made by social networks in which they indicated that Derek’s death would have occurred due to alleged medical negligence.
A relative close to the parents pointed out that this announcement of a complaint for this alleged negligence against a clinic in Quito, where Derek received care, will be made in the next few hours. (I)
