Residents of Salavat, Sterlitamak and Ishimbay complain about thick fog and chemical smell on the streets. Citizens consider emissions from the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat enterprise to be a possible cause of the unfavorable environmental situation, AiF reports.
“We passed half of Bashkiria, it was clear and sunny everywhere. As soon as we passed Ishimbai, there was fog and a pungent smell that cut the mucous membranes. And when approaching the plant, it was clearly visible what exactly is the source of this fog, ”wrote Sergey Kuznetsov.
“Cars even on emergency gangs drive in places, you can’t see anything. Fog! The plant is hard hitting. I thought it was all in the past. And everyone is silent. How is that?” – another local resident Kuanysh Tuleberginov is indignant.
In the comments, users note that a similar situation is also observed in the cities of Sterlitamak and Ishimbay.
However, Bashhydromet did not record any excess of the MPC of harmful substances in Salavat and Sterlitamak.
“As for the smell, it is there, everyone feels it, but according to all the measurements that are carried out, no excess of the maximum concentration limit has been recorded. There are pollutants, but not a single excess has been recorded. … In some places there are indicators below the upper bar, but there is no excess, ”said Oleg Khaliullin, head of the information and analytical department of the Salavat city administration, to the My Bashkortostan publication.
In December, Rosprirodnadzor specialists measured the concentration of harmful substances in the air in Salavat, after local residents complained about thick black smoke that came from the flare unit of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat. As the head of the department Svetlana Radionova clarified in her Instagram, as a result of measurements, an excess content of carbon monoxide in the air was revealed – exceeding the MPC of pollutants by more than 10 times. She promised to take action.
