The Russians created a petition demanding the release of Zarema Musaeva, the wife of retired federal judge Saydi Yangulbaev, who was forcibly taken to Chechnya.
Over 65,000 people have already signed the Change.org petition.
“We demand that the Russian authorities release Zarema to provide her with medical assistance, as well as provide her family and human rights activists with information about her whereabouts and well-being,” the statement said.
The authors of the initiative pointed out that during the arrest Musaeva fainted, but despite this, the Chechen security forces dragged her out of the apartment.
Earlier, the European Union also called for the release of Zarema Musayeva.
Recall that Musaeva was taken from Nizhny Novgorod to Grozny on January 20. According to the Minister for National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press and Information of the Republic Akhmed Dudayev, the woman was detained for insulting a law enforcement officer, and is also in the status of a witness in a fraud case.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, called the actions of the security forces legal. In his opinion, Kadyrov, the Musaevs and Yangulbaevs are accomplices of terrorists who must be “detained or destroyed.”
