US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, as well as the leaders of several European countries, the European Union and NATO discussed the development of the situation around Ukraine and sanctions against Russia in the event of an escalation of the conflict. It is reported by RBC with reference to The Mirror.
At the end of the meeting, the leaders concluded that an “unprecedented package of sanctions” should be imposed on Russia if an “invasion” of Ukraine occurs. At the same time, politicians noted that diplomatic negotiations are “a top priority.”
“They also agreed that the international community should not tolerate any action that undermines the sovereignty of Ukraine,” the press service of the British Prime Minister added.
Earlier, State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the US administration does not intend to make any concessions to Russia and insists on mutual steps. Prior to this, the Pentagon announced the strengthening of the Russian military group near the border with Ukraine and the absence of signs of de-escalation from the Russian authorities.
