Petersburg rescued a pregnant woman who spent 18 days on a ventilator

Petersburg hospital. Semashko saved the life of a 36-year-old pregnant woman who spent more than a month on oxygen support. An unvaccinated patient contracted the coronavirus at 28 weeks, the city health committee said.

A woman at the 7th month of pregnancy was admitted to the hospital from maternity hospital No. 6 on December 3 – she had a dry cough, a sore throat, and her temperature rose to 37.7. She was diagnosed with covid.

Despite treatment, the expectant mother developed community-acquired bilateral viral pneumonia, and the infection progressed to a severe course.

The woman spent 10 days on a non-invasive ventilator, 18 days already on a ventilator. The “cytokine storm” progressed, the patient was in an artificial coma for two days. It was not until January 5 that she finally began to breathe on her own.

On January 24, doctors performed a caesarean section on her – a girl weighing 1980 grams was born. The operation was successful, now the mother and daughter are under the supervision of doctors.
