The ban on the issuance, mining and circulation of cryptocurrencies in Russia, which was previously called for by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, will lead to an outflow of IT specialists from the country and may destroy a number of sectors of the high-tech economy. Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, warned about this today.

“The ban on cryptocurrencies proposed by the Central Bank of Russia will lead to an outflow of IT specialists from the country and destroy a number of sectors of the high-tech economy. No developed country bans cryptocurrencies. Reason: such a ban will inevitably slow down the development of blockchain technologies in general. These technologies increase the efficiency and safety of many types of human activity, from finance to art,” Durov said in his Telegram channel.

Recall that last Thursday the Central Bank of the Russian Federation published a report for public consultations, in which it proposed to change the legislation by banning the mining and circulation of cryptocurrencies in Russia and establishing liability for violating this ban.
